Welcome Notes

My thoughts about literature are deep and deepening. So many great thinkers have shaped and changed our world, our times. As we speak, they still do. We're all thanks.

Which is why technology fascinates and excites me, and is now dragging me into new horizons. Am I intrigued? You bet. And so what? Well, I am exploring its frontiers for sharing several bits. And I am also curious where all this will lead.

One sure destination for me is The House of Literature: where we tell and share - from poetry to drama to stories. In this quest, my Africanness is my hiding-place, my fortress. But I have also seen the world, through several ways and means. The most means of course is ICT.

While we get swarmed and wooed by solicited and junk offerings, I believe that the Age of the Internet will screen and scrub itself. We will all find our own balance, our own tolerance level, our irreducible limits, where and at which we will surf or cruise or stroll. No question.

It seems clear to me that we will do more "at the screen", meaning once you use the Internet for shopping, mailing and entertainment, you will get briefed and buoyed by the same medium. Even blasted as well! We will learn, use and create new words, sounds, signs and symbols - new forms of communicating. That, for me, is LITERATURE! And I thought I should be a part of its known and emerging future. Why not! The world of the New Media, which extends and sure challenges the Main-stream Media (msm). Alas, let writers arise!

My stories are, well, my stories: no regimen, just tales as they come, lores as I feel. Sizes and shades will depend on their purpose, their reason, and our season. But the goal will be, always, unmistakable: For me, to tell is to share. May the reader's right to choose, commit or comment live forever! May the Internet and ICT find him, reach her, wherever they are!

Please be there.
